Since 1984, Barrier Reef Fiberglass Pools has steadily expanded to firmly establish ourselves as one of the largest fiberglass pool manufacturers worldwide, with an annual production of over 3,500 swimming pools. Our Beginning: A Vision That Crossed Oceans
In an ambitious move, Tony Walton brought the essence of Barrier Reef Fiberglass Pools to the United States, a venture that has flourished beyond expectations.
Our journey began in early 2003, when Tony and his wife Carolyn first came to America, visiting pool shows and selling pools even before they had any pools on American soil! Australian pools finally arrived by May of that year, and we were off and running!
Over the next 6 years Tony relied solely on Australian-made pools to service his customers. Tony and Caroline spent the next 4 years traveling the country, selling Barrier Reef Fiberglass pools, and helping customers make their swimming pool dreams come true, one pool at a time.
By 2007, it was time to expand their two-person operation to keep up with business, and three new employees were added to the roster. An amazingly brief two years later, the business had grown so substantially that it became necessary to manufacture our pools in the USA.
Their search for a home base took them far afield, first to Zephyrhills, Florida, then to Brunswick, Georgia, and on to Savannah, Georgia, before they finally settled in Timmonsville, South Carolina. That’s where Tony and his expanding team opened a 50,000-square-foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in 2009, setting the stage for unparalleled growth in the American market.

Beyond Manufacturing: Building a Legend
As the years passed, business boomed, and Tony’s hardworking company flourished and grew. Our explosive growth meant new facilities had to be built, including a dedicated Mold Maintenance shop in 2014.
More production also required a larger distribution area, and despite voracious public desire for our products Barrier Reef Fiberglass Pools managed to keep their supply ahead of demand by establishing many regional distribution centers to disseminate their pools to waiting dealers.
Throughout the last decade we added distribution centers in: Canada (2012), Ohio (2013), Illinois (2014), Texas (2015), Alabama (2017), Tennessee (2022), and most recently, in New Jersey (2023).
Barrier Reef Fiberglass Pools USA began as a dream, just Tony and his wife Caroline, traveling the country and selling swimming pools everywhere they went. But that tiny crew quickly grew to 3 employees and has now expanded into a skilled workforce of over 90 employees.
Meanwhile, our very first hire, Kylie (“employee number 1”), still works for the company 17 years later! That degree of company loyalty is common among our team and makes clear how great it is to work for the company and how well Tony takes care of his people!
Now, with four decades of excellence under our belt, Barrier Reef Fiberglass Pools has proven to be our staying power in the industry. That longevity signifies unmatched quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
